A Kent State student who graduated over the weekend has went viral after posting a photo of herself on campus carrying a rifle following graduation.
In a photo, posted to Kaitlin Bennett Twitter account, she can be seen carrying an AR-10 rifle, and her graduation cap, “Come and Take It.”
“Now that I graduated from @KentState, I can finally arm myself on campus. I should have been able to do so as a student- especially since 4 unarmed students were shot and killed by the government on this campus. #CampusCarryNow,” Bennett said on Twitter.
Kent State University a policy barring students, staff and faculty from carrying guns on campus.
Bennett followed up that tweet with, ” I have no apologies for my graduation photos. As a woman, I refuse to be a victim & the second amendment ensures that I don’t have to be.”
According to WOIO, “Bennett is the founder of a gun advocacy organization, Liberty Hangout. The website says the group promotes peace, prosperity and property rights since 2015.”
Bennett told them that she was, “inspired to use her voice after the Parkland Shooting, when many spoke out on gun control.”
