Talk about gross: photos posted on Twitter appear to show an infestation of bugs on a Metro car. The photos show a close-up of a bug on a seat, and a zoomed out shot of many bugs on the floor of the car underneath seats.
A gunman who shot a woman Wednesday afternoon at a Central Park McDonald’s fatally shot himself shortly before 8 p.m. as officers began to zero in on his location, according to Fredericksburg Police.
A multitude of local and federal law enforcement will be on the ground at venues and Metro stations as participants in a controversial rally, Mayor Muriel Bowser said a press conference to discuss safety plans regarding the white-nationalist rally and counter protests scheduled for Sunday in Washington, D.C.
Fairfax County Police plan to have a large police presence at the Vienna Metro Station Sunday due to Unite the Right participants planning to meet and travel from there.
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and the City of Charlottesville have declared states of emergency ahead of Aug. 10-12 events marking one year since the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville. The Unite the Right rally will take place in Washington, D.C., across from the White House, and could affect Northern Virginia as participants and counter-demonstrators travel.
A remarkable new video released by D.C. Fire and EMS shows a postal worker trapped by floodwaters during the recent torrential downpours in the District. Authorities said the postal worker “narrowly escaped with his life, only because someone witnessed this near tragedy and came to his assistance.”
